— Church History —
On Sunday, January 11, 1998 sixty-five (65) people gathered at the Fordham Hill Oval Cooperative Complex Community Room to celebrate the official launching of a local community non-denominational Christian Church called "Spirit Of Life Fellowship". Weekly Worship Services, Prayer and Bible Classes were subsequently held in Westchester County, NY. Ten (10) persons joined the Fellowship on that day and committed to assist then Pastors Revs. Dr. Valli Y. Walton and Pastor Haywood Walton, Sr. The call was given to the leadership on January 5, 1997 at the MCWE pastoral meeting to embrace satellite network churches.
After nearly 14 months in Westchester County, the church moved to Bronx, NY in response to a vision given by the Lord to Dr. Valli while away in Rome, Italy hosting an Annual International Women's Conference there. Once re-located, the ministry began to receive international notice from leaders within Africa, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and India. The Spirit Of Life Fellowship's International ministries and churches have grown in numbers around the world. This has been accomplished with the founding and umbrella work of indigenous mission churches within Africa, Pakistan, the Philippines, Europe and India.
Over the years SOLF has been a tremendous support base to many people through her international missions outreach with the help of gifts from President's Council Elders, and Golden Eagle Faith Partners. Without their help, the vision would not be fulfilled! You are the Helping Hands to the Needy!
SOLF has established Schools of Ministry, Healing Centers, Bible Schools and Leadership Training Centers around the world. She has also embraced the work of the International College of Missions and Theology located in Nnwei, Nigeria, West Africa. ICOMAT is a SOLF educational institution that trains leaders for the mission field.
International Medical Missions Scholarship Awards, food, clothing and medicines for the poor are the mark of the church's Helping Hands for the Poor [tangible expressions of love] preceding the preaching of the Gospel at Crusades, Conferences, Schools of Ministry and Revivals. In November, 2003 SOLF was honored by the Arise and Walk Ministries Foundation with an International Missions Award to help the church to continue their missions' efforts abroad. Thank you Drs. Mission Statement
"To proclaim the message and demonstration of the power of the Gospel through preaching and teaching of the Word of God as expressed in the Holy Bible. This message is one of the newness of life and deliverance for those who believe in the resurrected Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, who is the only begotten Son of God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and Sustainer of all things."
SOLF is an International, non-denominational Christian teaching and healing ministry with a strong Charismatic focus. The ministry emphasizes prayer, world evangelism, healing and encouragement within the body of Christ to raise the people to a level of spiritual maturity and fullness in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is SOLF's goal to "seek and save" those who are lost and to prepare God's people for service and leadership both spiritually and within the secular community. Those commissioned through the ministry are empowered by the Holy Spirit of witness locally, nationally and to the end of the earth; Jesus Christ, having equipped His Church with all the necessary spiritual gifts for her growth.
